The standard room charge includes A La Carte breakfast (unless otherwise stated). We cannot offer refunds for meals not taken.

2.2 Hotel room cancellation policy

Our flexible 48-hour cancellation policy means you can cancel your stay with us free of charge, but you must notify us at least 48 hours prior to your original arrival time. At the time of booking, we ask you to pay the first night’s room payment as a deposit to confirm your booking. If you need to cancel your reservation, providing you cancel at least 48 hours before your original arrival, we will refund you your entire deposit. If you cancel within 48 hours of arrival, we will charge you for the first night of your stay.

2.3 Special Offers

Special offers may require full payment of all the accommodation to secure the booking.

Special offers are non-refundable.

2.4 Restaurant bookings and cancellations

If you need to amend or cancel your table reservation, please contact us at your earliest convenience. If we must cancel your booking, we will contact you.

3.0 Smoking

In order to protect our guests and staff from the dangers of second-hand smoke, the Duke on the Test operates a fully “no smoking/vaping” policy.  The restaurant, public areas, bar and all bedrooms are designated “No smoking/vaping”.

4.0 Family Friendly

All room rates are per night. A child (age 12 years and under) can stay in your room for an additional charge.

We do not allow children under the age of 13 to stay in a room alone without an adult.

We are happy to provide a cot if required at an additional cost, however we don’t provide bedding, so please bring your own. Please ask a member of our team when you make your booking.

We have two family rooms available, please contact us for further information and booking enquiries.

5.0 Dog Policy

We know that dogs are members of your family, so we welcome well behaved dogs to the Duke on the Test. However, there are only 4 guest accommodation rooms where we allow dogs to stay overnight, the rooms with ground floor access and patio doors. If you’re a guest staying in our accommodation, we will ask you to sign a form on your arrival stating that you are liable for any damages or noise disruption caused by your dog, that your dog has been ‘house’ trained and is at least 1 year old (sorry, no puppies).

We charge an additional £15 per night per dog to cover extra cleaning.   Maximum of 2 dogs per room. We will provide bowls for food and water and a dog towel – please keep our nice fluffy white towels for humans! We also ask you to read and follow the guidelines below.

  • All dogs must be at least 1 year old.

  • Never leave your dog unattended.

  • Dogs must be on a lead whilst in public areas of the Duke on the Test.  Dogs are not permitted in the restaurant.

  • Be mindful that other guests may be allergic or scared of dogs.

  • Please bring a dog bed and anything else your dog needs to remain happy.

  • Please keep dogs off all furniture.

  • Please walk and exercise your dog off-site, not on the hotel premises. There is a lovely walk along the River Test which is accessed at the end of the car park.

  • Housekeeping will only access the room whilst dog owners are present, or when the owner and the dog are either dining at the Duke on the Test or off-site.

6.0 Car Parking

Allocated parking (one space) is provided for each of our guest rooms. All cars are parked at owners’ risk.

7.0 Damages

We will charge any individual in full, for damage caused whilst using the facilities at TheDuke.

Testimonials

The end result of the work is a triumph; every aspect of the site and the building looks stunning and works together to make optimum use of everything there.

The Hot Smoked “Chalk Stream” Trout was simply divine and the tastiest dish I have experienced in a very long time.

The fresh food served was a perfect match for the setting; completing the experience for us on the evening, and we will be back!

What amazing place to visit. This will now be my number one go to establishment.
