Terms & Conditions

1.0 CHECKING IN/OUT

You can check-in any time after 3 pm. If you need to arrive earlier than that, or if you’re expecting to arrive later than 9 pm, please contact us with details of your travel arrangements. Check-out is by 10.30 am. Early check-in or late check-out is available on request and subject to additional charges and subject to availability.

2.0 BOOKINGS

2.1 FLEXIBLE RESERVATION POLICY

Free cancellation up to 2 full days before arrival. A credit or debit card is required when booking to guarantee your reservation, payment is taken once the free cancellation period ends. Room bookings may be cancelled before midnight UK time two days prior to the arrival date, (e.g. For a stay arriving on Saturday, you can cancel until 11.59pm UK time on the Wednesday two days prior). If you cancel your reservation within the cancellation period, a full refund will usually be processed to the same debit/credit card within seven days, however it may take a few days for the funds to reach your account.

After the cancellation period, the whole reservation becomes fully non-refundable including any associated meals and/or additional extras. Such cancellation charge is to compensate the hotel for the late cancellation and is not for any service.

Bookings amended within 2 days of arrival are outside of the cancellation period and are fully non-refundable and remain non-refundable despite any amendments to the booking (for example, irrespective of the amended date of stay no cancellation period applies).

2.2 RESTAURANT BOOKINGS AND CANCELLATIONS

If you need to amend or cancel your table reservation, please contact us at your earliest convenience.

3.0 SMOKING

In order to protect our guests and staff from the dangers of second-hand smoke, the Duke on the Test operates a fully “no smoking/vaping” policy.  The restaurant, public areas, bar and all bedrooms are designated “No smoking/vaping”.

4.0 FAMILY FRIENDLY

All room rates are per night. A child (age 12 years and under) can stay in your room for an additional charge. We do not allow children under the age of 13 to stay in a room alone without an adult. We are happy to provide a cot if required at an additional cost, however we don’t provide bedding, so please bring your own. Please ask a member of our team when you make your booking. We have two family rooms available, please contact us for further information and booking enquiries.

5.0 DOG POLICY

We know that dogs are members of your family, so we welcome well behaved dogs to the Duke on the Test. However, there are only 4 guest accommodation rooms where we allow dogs to stay overnight, the rooms with ground floor access and patio doors. If you’re a guest staying in our accommodation, we will ask you to sign a form on your arrival stating that you are liable for any damages or noise disruption caused by your dog, that your dog has been ‘house’ trained and is at least 1 year old (sorry, no puppies). We charge an additional £20 per night per dog to cover extra cleaning. Maximum of 2 dogs per room. We will provide bowls for food and water and a dog towel – please keep our nice fluffy white towels for humans! We also ask you to read and follow the guidelines below.

  • All dogs must be at least 1 year old.

  • Never leave your dog unattended.

  • Dogs must be on a lead whilst in public areas of the Duke on the Test.  Dogs are not permitted in the restaurant.

  • Be mindful that other guests may be allergic or scared of dogs.

  • Please bring a dog bed and anything else your dog needs to remain happy.

  • Please keep dogs off all furniture.

  • Please walk and exercise your dog off-site, not on the hotel premises. There is a lovely walk along the River Test which is accessed at the end of the car park.

  • Housekeeping will only access the room whilst dog owners are present, or when the owner and the dog are either dining at the Duke on the Test or off-site.

6.0 CAR PARKING

Allocated parking (one space) is provided for each of our guest rooms. All cars are parked at owners’ risk.

7.0 DAMAGES

We will charge any individual in full, for damage caused whilst using the facilities at The Duke.

Testimonials

The end result of the work is a triumph; every aspect of the site and the building looks stunning and works together to make optimum use of everything there.

The Hot Smoked “Chalk Stream” Trout was simply divine and the tastiest dish I have experienced in a very long time.

The fresh food served was a perfect match for the setting; completing the experience for us on the evening, and we will be back!

What amazing place to visit. This will now be my number one go to establishment.
