Things to do in Romsey this Autumn

October 31st, 2023

At The Duke on The Test, we are so lucky to be located in such a beautiful part of the world, with plenty of things to do in Romsey and Hampshire.

Activities in Romsey, Hampshire

From the bustling centre of our market town, to fun family days out, and picturesque walks, there truly is something for everyone to enjoy.

Sir Harold Hilliers Gardens

The Duke on The Test is only a five-minute drive from the picturesque Sir Harold Hilliers Gardens, so if you are planning to make the most of bright blue skies and the gorgeous changing colours of Autumn with a visit to the beautiful grounds, why not stop by on your way home for a delightful lunch, or coffee and a slice of cake? A lovely way to spend an Autumnal day.

The Plaza Theatre

For those heading out and about during the evening, we are located a short five-minute drive from The Plaza Theatre in Romsey and only twenty minutes from The Mayflower in Southampton, making us the perfect setting for a pre-theatre meal. If you are planning on seeing a show over the following months, make a full evening of the occasion and let our friendly team indulge you.

Paultons Park, Home of Pepper Pig World

For those with little ones, we recommend an adrenaline-packed visit to Paultons Park, Home of Peppa Pig World, the amusement park that all ages will enjoy. A great place to keep everyone entertained over weekends and holidays, The Duke on The Test is only a short drive away, making us the perfect place to rest weary heads after a day full of fun!

Mottisfont

For those enjoying a peaceful night away, a visit to Mottisfont is well worthwhile including in your plans. This impressive house and gallery is set in beautiful riverside gardens and looks gorgeous throughout all seasons, but particularly dazzles throughout Autumn. After a relaxing day exploring the gardens, retreat to The Duke on The Test for a warming meal by the fire.

Testimonials

The end result of the work is a triumph; every aspect of the site and the building looks stunning and works together to make optimum use of everything there.

The Hot Smoked “Chalk Stream” Trout was simply divine and the tastiest dish I have experienced in a very long time.

The fresh food served was a perfect match for the setting; completing the experience for us on the evening, and we will be back!

What amazing place to visit. This will now be my number one go to establishment.
